My sister died of cancer
My best friend had a stroke
A guy I knew was murdered
For snorting someone’s coke
I’ve been sick, and I’ve done wrong
But I’ve never fallen prey
I guess I’ve dodged my share of bullets
But they’ll get me one fine day

I missed the war in Vietnam
I didn’t die from drugs
I lived through a bad car crash
And a beating from some thugs
I thought my time on Earth was up
When I ate some tainted LSD
Somehow I kept on dodging bullets
But I know one day they’ll get to me

I dodged another bullet
My lucky stars are shining bright
I may not get another chance
But then again, I just might

I went down to the drugstore
Tried to fill my scrip
Planned to take an overdose
And end this lonely trip
But the pharmacist said no no no
You better up and get away
Seems I dodged another bullet
But it’s gonna get me one fine day

I went out for a bike ride
Along a country road
A car sped right behind me
And he never even slowed
I swerved and hit a pothole
I went flying and landed on my head
But still I dodged another bullet
Thank the Lord, I’m not yet dead

I dodged another bullet
My lucky stars are out tonight
I may not get another chance
But then again, who knows, I might

This world is one big minefield
There’s danger everywhere
Survival is not guaranteed
So you better say a prayer
Appreciate your blessings
Life is a cabaret
You gotta keep on dodging bullets
Until they get you one fine day

I said just keep on dodging bullets
And hope today is not the day
